The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) State and Local Grants Program, authorized by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)(Title IV, Sections 4111-4116, 20 U.S.C. 7111-7116) is a central part of the Federal Government’s effort to encourage the creation of safe, disciplined, and drug-free learning environments that will help all children meet challenging academic standards. This program provides support for school- and community-based programs to help our Nation’s communities prevent alcohol and other drug use, as well as youth violence. Program funds support activities designed to address significant goals and objectives contained in the National Drug Control Strategy. For information about programs and activities in the schools, contact Karen Neal at 410-535-7246 or nealk@calvertnet.k12.md.us. |
