What does every child want? The chance to kick a ball, to throw it well, to share that success with family members. What does every child with intellectual disabilities want? The exact same thing.

Special Olympics Mission

The Special Olympics mission remains as vital today as it did when the movement was founded in 1968. Through the power of sport, Special Olympics strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. It also creates opportunities for families, community members, local leaders, businesses, law enforcement, celebrities, dignitaries and others to band together to change attitudes and support athletes.
CCPS hosts an annual Track & Field Event for all qualifying students. The event includes:

                     Shot Put                                 4x100 Meter Rely
                     Tennis Ball Throw                     10 Meter Walk/Wheelchair
                     Softball Throw                         25 Meter Walk /Dash
                     Standing Long Jump                 200 Meter Run
                     Running Long Jump                  100 Meter Run
                                                                  50 Meter Dash
